Concept and Origin

Talking to Joanna Vahlsing, a solid marathoner almost done with the Abbott World Majors, she self-described as a “back-of-the-pack” runner. Tokyo’s aggressive cutoffs were stressing her out and keeping track of pace, time, cutoff, remaining time, etc… it was huge distraction during her run.

She built a spreadsheet and planned to print it out and tape it to her arm for the race. Like it was the dark ages! No product-person/technologist could miss an opportunity to overdevelop something that could have been solved with paper… NEVER!

As a “tech guy” I said “Why not? Let’s give it a shot…” This was coded and tested (and given a couple of practice runs) over four days. And it works!

This is intended to take the “spreadsheet-in-your-head” away and help make informed decisions about taking breaks or pace modifications without stress. Even better is the feeling of “Ok, I’m not about to get swept! I have 45 minutes until the next checkpoint! I’m ok!”
